Heavy rainfall has flooded the Rohingya encampment at Zeropoint ( Kona Para |Taung Phyo ). Tube wells and toilets are presently under water. Residents are currently complaining (late evening 17th June) that their homes are flooded. There are elderly vulnerable people as well as pregnant women who are at or near term.
Each year the refugee community has made requests to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the organisation responsible for refugees at the Zeropoint encampment, for flood proof stilted homes. The answer has always been negative.
